Charleston project provides an uptown, big-city experience

Charleston has a proud reputation for safeguarding its treasured historic buildings. Throughout much of the city, many structures are still being used as originally intended. But others have been redesigned for entirely different purposes.

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd has extensive experience in both historic preservation and creative reuse.

King Street Lofts is an example of both—preserving the exterior of the former Edwards Department Store, while enabling the residential condo owners to customize units to their individual tastes.

We served as counsel to its developer. The project includes commercial condominiums on the first floor and residential condominiums on the floors above, as well as a rooftop garden and pool.

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd handled the acquisition of the property and prepared the condominium documents and sales contracts for the condominium units.
