The South Carolina Bankers Association (SCBA) Compliance Committee will host a conference on March 8, 2012, covering state law issues and compliance hot topics. This one-day session will provide the most up to date information on these topics to those with compliance responsibilities. A very knowledgeable slate of speakers in the compliance arena will share their expertise with you.
Kathleen G. Smith, of counsel with Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. in Columbia, will present an Update on the South Carolina Consumer Protection Code and Other Consumer Lending Issues and Preemption. This part of the program will include an update in developments relating to the South Carolina Consumer Protection Code and consumer lending. Among the topics to be covered will be the effect of preemption on state law including the new preemption provisions of the Dodd-Frank Act.
