Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd represents large, regulated utility companies as well as small renewable energy start-up companies in an array of issues.  From the litigation of rates cases in front of the South Carolina Public Service Commission, to drafting contracts for the construction of new facilities, and providing general advice and counsel for start-up renewable energy companies, our lawyers are able to provide guidance and advice for regulatory, legislative and transactional matters.

• Successfully represented several public and private entities in the renewable energy sector regarding the constitutionality of the South Carolina Renewable Energy Infrastructure Development Fund.
• Served as bond counsel for several billion dollars of public power utility revenue bonds for the South Carolina Public Service Authority, including a $436 million issue in 2008. 
• Assisted in the drafting and passage of legislation which provides for cost recovery of certain pre-approved costs for electric base load generation serving South Carolina consumers.
