Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A.

Tiger Wells joined Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s Columbia office in January 2008.

A native and current resident of Columbia, South Carolina, Mr. Wells is a member of the Firm’s Public Finance team.  As a Public Finance lawyer, he helps clients, including Counties, Municipalities, and School Districts, issue bonds as a means to finance various capital projects.  Prior to joining the Public Finance team, Mr. Wells amassed substantial experience representing companies in various litigation and litigation-related matters, including the South Carolina Fair Credit Reporting Act, an International Breach of Contract dispute and various Personal Injury matters.  Mr. Wells has a great deal of experience resolving conflicts efficiently, and seeks to add value to clients by serving as a creative and effective problem-solver.  

In 2010, Mr. Wells was appointed to serve on the Economic Development committee for the Transition team of then newly elected City of Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin.  He continues to serve as an advisor to the Mayor on economic development matters.   

HONORS
Mr. Wells is a recipient of the University of South Carolina Black Law Students Association's 2011 Jonathan Jasper Wright Award and chaired the SC Bar Young Lawyers Division Diversity Clerkship Program. The program won first place for "Achievement for Diversity Programs" at the American Bar Association's 2011 Annual Meeting. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Columbia Class of 2011. 

In 2010, he was recognized by The State newspaper as one of the region’s emerging young leaders and included in their annual “20 Under 40” class. A one-time Columbia Urban League Young and Gifted honoree, he served on the steering committee for the league's Columbia Young Professionals group and was honored by the Columbia Urban League with an Empowered Citizen award in 2008. He was interviewed by Columbia, SC television station, WLTX, in 2010 for his work with the Urban League.

EDUCATION
Mr. Wells graduated from Morehouse College, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. At the University of Virginia School of Law, he served as managing editor of the Virginia Sports & Entertainment Law Journal, was a member of the Black Law Students Association, and a founding member of the UVA Committee for Progress on Race.
