Mr. McKinney’s clients include industrial and healthcare product manufacturers—such as DuPont, Cephalon Pharmaceuticals, Rhodia and GlaxoSmithKline—as well as major regional, national and international insurers, and governmental and professional services organizations.
RECENT MATTERS
Mr. McKinney has helped clients:
- mediate and negotiate a multimillion dollar contract-pricing dispute
- prosecute unfair-competition claims
- protect proprietary and confidential business information, and avoid crippling production costs, in response to subpoenas from a business competitor.
Mr. McKinney is a leader in the business-law community. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), currently serving as chairman of its Drug, Device and Biotechnology Committee. He has published articles relating to the use of economic experts, and the rights of businesses in protecting electronically stored information.
He has served on the faculty of the IADC Counsel Trial Academy at Stanford University.
Mr. McKinney is also a leader in his home community. He is an adult literacy tutor with the Greater Columbia Literacy Council and an active member of the Columbia Dispute Resolution Council.
Mr. McKinney is a member and former officer in the Columbia Forum of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and serves as president of the Quaternion Scholarship Fund. He is a member of the Advisory Council of Furman University. Mr. McKinney serves as an elder, Sunday School teacher and active layman in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
