Government Relations

Working effectively with the leadership of all political parties, the Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s Government Relations team helps our clients find legislative and administrative solutions. Most of the time, this involves extensive legislative work at the State House and in the offices of the South Carolina Senate and House. However, while most our work is done at the Capitol, we are equally at ease appearing before state agencies and commissions.

Services offered include:

  • Identifying legislative and administrative solutions to benefit the client’s needs;
  • Advocating client views with members of the South Carolina General Assembly and their staffs as well as with various federal, state and local agencies;
  • Drafting legislation relating to environmental issues, regulatory and administrative matters, intergovernmental relations, public finance, and any other issues affecting our clients; 
  • Providing technical assistance to governmental bodies, including local governments, in dealing with complex legislation, and also to trade associations and business organizations;
  • Testifying before legislative committees with prior in-depth research and strategic planning;
  • Monitoring legislative and regulatory activities with weekly reports and in-depth communications to the client on South Carolina legislative activities; and
  • Working with clients on developing grassroots support, which is essential for successful outcomes.
