Our experience in interest rate swaps, derivative transactions and complex investment products such as GICs, forward delivery agreements and the like, rivals that found in major money center law firms.  We regularly advise on matters ranging from smaller deals to those involving hundreds of millions of dollars, for public and private clients both within (and including) the State of South Carolina as well as transactions undertaken across the nation.

RECENT MATTERS

  • Serving as special swaps counsel to a San Francisco based nonprofit organization in the entering of two interest rate swaps in the aggregate notional amount of $100,000,000.
  • Serving as special swaps counsel to a state in connection with the restructuring of derivative transactions having combined notional amounts of over $360,000,000.
  • Advising clients on legal ramifications of the recent financial crises and financial institution bankruptcies.
  • Advising healthcare, educational, governmental and other entities as to agreements for structured investment aggregating in the $100,000,000s.
  • Speaking before businesses, governments and conferences concerning financial derivatives and reinvestment contracts at locations across the United States.
  • Chairing, for a period of three consecutive years, the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL) Bond Attorneys’ Workshop panel on Interest Rate Swaps and Related Transactions held in Chicago.
  • Serving as Vice Chair for NABL’s Fundamentals of Municipal Bond Law held in Atlanta in 2008 and as Chair for the entire conference in Memphis in 2009.
  • One of three co-authors of a soon to be released book entitled Interest Rate Swaps for the General Bond Practitioner: Basic Structures, Documentary and State Law Issues.
