Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s Employment Law Team understands that government; private and non-profit employers require effective, practical solutions to their day-to-day employment issues. Members of our team are located throughout the state and include preventive maintenance counselors, experienced trial lawyers, and regulatory attorneys to assist in compliance with, and defending claims under, the complex and constantly-changing federal, state and local laws regarding employer-employee relations.
RECENT MATTERS
- Drafting employee handbooks, policies and procedures, and benefit plans;
- Negotiating employment agreements, including confidentiality agreements; non-compete agreements; independent contractor agreements; severance agreements and compensation arrangements.
- Providing employee and management training;
- Investigating and responding to discrimination charges filed with the EEOC and the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission;
- Litigating claims against employers for employee benefits under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA);
- Defending claims under FMLA, ADA, ADEA, the Equal Pay Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (which includes sexual harassment claims), and South Carolina wage payment laws.
