E-Data Management

Because most governmental and business entities have gone “paperless”, electronic records management has become a key concern of our clients.  In response, the Firm has created the E-Data Services team, comprised of both technical and legal professionals, charged with assisting clients in the development of comprehensive records management programs in a way that leverages technology currently available within a reasonable time frame and budget.  Our E-Data Services team has recently:

  • Helped client develop internal litigation hold protocol as part of its overall records retention program to avoid spoliation risks during governmental audit, investigation, or litigation;
  • Consulted on client project to upgrade existing e-mail platform to allow for greater ability to sort, search, locate manage and preserve electronic mail communications across the enterprise;
  • Developed e-mail policy and employee training program for client targeted at reducing the volume and risky content of company e-mail communications, significantly reducing costs and risk associated with these communications;
  • Conducted numerous training sessions for client Information Technology personnel on legal and technical requirements for records management programs;
  • Presented several training session for client employees on risks associated with data input and electronic mail communications as well as best practices;
  • Formulated Freedom of Information (FOIA) response protocol for electronic records requested under FOIA, as well as reasonable costs to be charged in association with such requests;
  • Formulated strategy for client’s moving forward with comprehensive electronic records management program, targeting areas of highest risk as priority, and then setting goals for future action over time;
  • Set and reviewed retention schedules for client departmental records, such as Human Resources, for compliance with governing state and federal law requirements.
