Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. and its predecessor firms have a long, proud tradition of public service and involvement in civic, educational, professional and legal activities. Many attorneys in our Firm are actively involved in a variety of roles, including several who run cities and work to keep the pro-business climate in the Southeast.
The mayor of Greenville and the corporate counsel for Charleston are our attorneys, as is the current chair of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce board; a Greenville shareholder is president of the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL) who also chairs the Furman University board; our Managing Director, a former board chair of Greenville’s Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and Junior League, serves on the S.C. Educational Television Foundation. A bankruptcy attorney in Columbia is the president of S.C. Ducks Unlimited.
Others participate in the highly-selective Liberty Fellowship program, while many are chosen to hone their skills in Leadership South Carolina, chamber of commerce’s leadership programs in Charleston, Columbia, Florence, and Greenville, and The Riley Institute Diversity Leadership Academy. Those interested in healthcare serve on the McLeod Medical Center Community Board in Florence and the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Advisory Committee and the Roper Hospital Board, both in Charleston. Others are on advisory boards of the state’s leading financial institutions.
For the first in time in 14 years, the United States will host the annual meeting of International Association of Young Lawyers due to Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd attorneys who successfully promoted South Carolina as the 2010 venue.
Several attorneys are adjunct faculty members at South Carolina’s law schools, while another is a tenured professor. Several of our lawyers have advanced to serve on the Supreme Court of South Carolina, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. Many of our lawyers are members of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Tax Counsel, and eight are permanent members of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference.
