GREEN POLICIES
Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd has been a friend of the environment for many years. Our attorneys and staff are active in preservation and conservation initiatives across South Carolina. With this in mind, we have embarked on a Firm-wide pledge to reduce consumption and promote conservation with our office practices.
Our green activities include the following programs:
- HVAC systems are set to a timer to reduce each building's heating and cooling system.
- CRT computer monitors were replaced with LCD models that use much less electricity.
- All computers, printers and copiers purchased since 2004 carry the Energy Star logo.
- Printers and copiers have been configured to operate in "sleep" mode when not in use for an extended period of time.
- Energy efficient light bulbs are being used in each office.
- Recycling containers for paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum are placed throughout each office.
- Where possible, office lights operate with a timer in order to reduce energy.
- Green criteria are considered when purchasing items and equipment.
- Air and car travel have been reduced by promoting telephone and video conferencing in lieu of face-to-face meetings.
We recognize that our work has both direct and indirect effects on the environment. We are committed to reducing our impact while educating and empowering our employees and clients to make more environmentally responsible choices.
