Meet Stinson

Stinson Ferguson practices in the areas of environmental law, commercial disputes and utility litigation.

Stinson’s environmental practice includes permitting disputes and enforcement, real estate transactions, solar legislation and development, brownfield redevelopment, landfills, underground storage tanks, unregulated chemicals, and water quality standards. She advises clients with respect to creating sustainable business practices.

Stinson’s utility practice includes interpretation of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Hydropower regulations and guidelines and FERC Hydropower shoreline management planning and permitting litigation.

She has worked in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector, advising clients on state and federal incentives and litigating regulatory matters before the state utilities commission.

Other professional experience includes serving as the South Carolina Energy Staff Attorney for the Southern Environmental Law Center in Charleston where Stinson concentrated on public utility commission litigation and environmental justice, community collaboration and stakeholder engagement surrounding energy and water law and policy issues. She was the Director of the South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Program and worked for the SC Environmental Law Project in Pawleys Island.

She served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Kristi L. Harrington, South Carolina Circuit Court, Ninth Judicial Circuit.
