Sarah Thomas Clemmons

Special Counsel  |  Greenville

Meet Sarah

Sarah Clemmons devotes her practice to assisting clients in recovering the monies due to them, in addition to representing clients in guardianship, conservatorship and probate matters.

Sarah began her legal career as a litigator representing hospitals and physicians. In that role, she was exposed to the complexities of the revenue cycle side of healthcare. At Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, Sarah now works closely with her healthcare clients to develop and implement systems to identify assets and payment sources. She negotiates with liability insurance carriers, patients and their counsel as well as litigates creditor claims in South Carolina probate courts.

A large part of Sarah’s practice is the representation of acute care hospitals, nursing homes and families in guardianship and conservatorship matters in probate courts across South Carolina. On behalf of her clients, she seeks the appointment of professional guardians and/or conservators for patients or residents who lack capacity to make informed medical decisions. Prior to filing these actions, she also provides advice and counsel regarding the South Carolina Adult Healthcare Consent Act. Sarah also represents individuals who desire to be appointed guardian and/or conservator for a loved one, and is regularly appointed by Greenville County Probate Court to represent alleged incapacitated individuals in these proceedings.

Sarah also has experience with advising clients on healthcare regulatory matters such as HIPAA, peer review protection and National Practitioner Databank compliance. In addition to her healthcare clients, Sarah assists clients with their commercial collection litigation. Sarah also assists our firm’s commercial real estate clients with collecting overdue rents and eviction proceedings.

Her clients include community hospitals, physicians, physician groups, nursing homes, dental practices, licensed counselors, long term care facilities and veterinarians.
