Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. announces the recent addition of Garrett D. Steck as Special Counsel.
Based in the law firm’s Greenville office, Garrett will focus on representing international and domestic clients with an emphasis on the international transfer of goods and relocation of personnel.
The Greeville native offers a broad range of services to clients. While focusing on immigration, employment verification and customs compliance and trade, he also maintains a general transactional practice and provides counseling and guidance on economic development and general corporate matters, including formation and governance, restructuring and contract drafting and negotiation.
Garrett has experience in managing cases and representing multinational corporations, small businesses and individual clients before US governmental entities, including the Departments of Homeland Security, State, Defense and Commerce. He also represents clients with regard to E-Verify, I9 and SCIIRA employment verification compliance matters and ICE investigations. He is a frequent lecturer on business-based immigration topics.

Admitted to practice in South Carolina in 1998, Garrett is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the South Carolina World Trade Association, Japan America Association of South Carolina, Upstate Global Professionals and the International Committee of the South Carolina Bar. He is also a member of the Blythe Academy of Languages School Improvement Council.
Garrett received his J.D., from the University of South Carolina, and his M.P.H., also from USC. He received his B.A. from Wofford College, majoring in Economics. He was formerly affiliated with another large firm in Greenville for the past 11 years.
