Chris Gantt-Sorenson Featured in HR Dive Article on DEI Compliance Changes

August 04, 2025
Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd P.A. shareholder and employment law practice team leader Chris Gantt-Sorenson was recently interviewed by HR Dive for an article examining the new federal guidance on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, which the publication describes as "one of the biggest challenges for HR professionals."
In the July 16, 2025, article titled "ERGs, DEI trainings remain under the microscope as HR responds to scrutiny," Chris is quoted on the evolving compliance landscape following March 2025 technical assistance guidance from the EEOC and Department of Justice, as well as recent executive orders. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience advising employers on compliance matters and defending employment-related litigation, Chris provided guidance for employers seeking to maintain inclusive workplaces while ensuring legal compliance.

"It's been unfortunate to see DEI merged with affirmative action. When a lot of people are talking about DEIB, they're talking actually about affirmative action. It can be confusing," Chris noted in the interview, helping to clarify common misconceptions that are leading some employers to potentially overreach in their compliance responses.

Chris has extensive experience helping employers navigate complex employment law issues, particularly around Title VII compliance, employee resource groups and DEI training programs. She is currently advising organizations on how they can adapt practices while maintaining welcoming, inclusive environments. Chris has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for employment litigation for six years running.
