David Caughran's practice focuses on public finance law. He works with other members of our public finance team to serve cities, counties, state entities, special purpose districts and other political subdivisions across South Carolina as counsel on bond issues and other financing structures. In addition, David works with clients on a broad range of transactional matters including preparation and review of purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases and other real estate transactions and financing documents.
During law school, David served as an intern for the Hon. J. Michelle Childs, U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and was a member of the ABA Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Journal.
Prior to law school, David worked in Washington, D.C. for more than six years and gained valuable experience in government relations, policy development and communications strategy. He advocated on behalf of various entities regarding energy and environmental issues at the federal, state and local levels. David also served on the staff of former Congresswoman Jane Harman.
David is fluent in Spanish, and served as a teacher's assistant, leading students on the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain.
