Tyler Gilliam is a business and tax lawyer who works closely with domestic and international companies, business owners and individuals to find practical solutions to his client’s legal needs.
Tyler’s experience includes:
- • Business formation and entity structure planning, including drafting articles, bylaws and operating agreements
- • Tax planning for domestic and international companies
- • Mergers and acquisitions
- • Advising on name, image and likeness (NIL) matters, including forming NIL collectives and structuring NIL contracts
- • Assisting developers with South Carolina tax credits, including Brownfields, Abandoned Building and Textile Mill Revitalization credits
- • Providing economic development assistance to businesses relocating to or expanding in South Carolina related to Fees-in-Lieu of Tax (FILOTs), Special Source Revenue Credit Arrangements (SSRCs), Job Development Credits (JDCs) and Grants
- • Advising on LLC and partnership disputes, including derivative actions
- • Drafting and reviewing conservation easements
He received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was awarded a full-tuition scholarship as a Graduate Tax Scholar. While in Washington, Tyler also served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Albert G. Lauber of the United States Tax Court.
Tyler served as a guest lecturer on business law at the Charleston School of Law and the College of Charleston. He now resides in Pickens County, South Carolina and works in our Greenville office.
