Meet Matt

Matt Blake represents employers, insurers and governmental entities in workers' compensation defense and employment matters. He helps clients analyze risk, develop strategies to reduce exposure and protect their interests in disputes before the North Carolina Industrial Commission and appellate courts. Drawing on nearly 25 years of experience in employment-related fields, Matt brings a comprehensive understanding of how competition, technology, demographics, finance and policy shape business and employment relationships.
 
Matt's workers' compensation practice encompasses a wide range of claims, including accidental injuries, occupational diseases, asbestosis and silicosis, death benefits, non-insured employer matters and cases involving employee or co-defendant fraud. He has successfully litigated and negotiated resolutions for private companies, government agencies, employers and insurance carriers. His approach combines careful analysis of each case with practical forecasting to help clients preempt issues and mitigate their exposure before disputes escalate.
